angora goat goats breeder breeders lamb lambs fleece fleeces wool roving rovings spinning wheel wheels soay soays icelandic sheep fiber for sale flock herd farm farms hobby craft crafts yarn fiber alpaca alpacas ISBONA SOA CAGBA Open Flock Book Registered handspinning, wool, lopi, yarn, felting, weaving, ram, rams, lamb, lambs, ewe, ewes Small, hardy sheep for fiber, forage, and meat. They are very low maintenance and require no shearing! They are extremely well-suited to our climate - don't seem to mind wind, snow or rain. They are bred for grass feeding and browsing, and do an excellent job of brush control. The breed is small, rams averaging only about 80 pounds! The fiber is outstanding for handspinning, as it is plucked, not shorn, and has no cut edge. Also, in plucking, only the wool is shed, leaving the guard hair on the sheep! Soay are a Rare Breed Conservancy Trust, and a Heritage Conservation breed. There are only 1200 registered sheep in the US.

Since we maintain a small flock, we do have Soay available for sale from time to time. Our flock is registered with Soays of America, and recorded and registered with the Open Flock Book. There are many sites you can browse that will tell you all about this wonderful breed. We encourage you to do your research, and if you decide that you would like to take part in the conservancy effort, we would love to help you get started and support you along the way. Meet Garcia's flock...
The Sheep’s Prayer
Lord, I hope my stomachs
Are bigger than my eyes
As how I love each blade of green
That grows beneath thy skies.
As I am just a wooly sheep,
Please help me count myself to sleep
