Our farm participates in the Federal Volunteer Scrapies program, and vaccinates with CDT to insure the health of our stock.
We are willing to ship animals and can help you make the arrangements.
Spring lambs sell quickly. If you do not see what you are looking for, you are welcome to reserve a spring lamb. Your deposit will be refunded if the lamb is not produced.
** A WORD OF CAUTION BEFORE BUYING A RAM**
One of the most important criteria for your ram is horn width. You should be able to fit your fist between the bottom sweep of the horn and the ram's cheek. If the ram's horns are too narrowly set, it can impede the ram's ability to chew (side to side) as well as create entanglement hazards. Horn trimming will be the unpleasant future for both you and the ram. Breeding rams with poor horn genetics perpetuates the cycle.
When choosing a ram for breeding purposes, choose a ram whose horns have developed to the bottom sweep. Look at the horn development on both sides of a ram lamb's lineage if purchasing a lamb with immature horn. Also, ask to see the ram that produced your ewes, and ensure that they, too, carry good genetics for horn development.
Ram lambs are often a great "bargain" in the spring, and cull rams can be offered *free* with the purchase of ewes. Choose your ram with care. Realize that the ram's genetics are in 100% of your next year's offspring, and invest wisely for the future of your flock, and for the future of this conservation breed.
